2026 Football Jersey Size Guide: How to Choose the Right Size?

Why choosing the right size is crucial for a football jersey

There's nothing more frustrating than receiving a football jersey that doesn't fit well. Too big, too small, too tight in the shoulders... Each brand has its own sizing standards, and a Nike size S jersey is not necessarily identical to an Adidas or Puma size S jersey. This guide will help you choose the right football jersey size every time.

Size Differences by Brand

Nike

Nike jerseys (PSG, Barcelona, Brazil, France...) generally run true to size. Take your usual size. The Dri-FIT version has a slightly tailored fit.

Adidas

Adidas jerseys (Real Madrid, Germany, Algeria, Argentina...) run slightly small. If you are between two sizes, opt for the larger one.

Puma

Puma jerseys (Morocco, Senegal, Manchester City...) run slightly large. Take your usual size or one size down if you prefer a more fitted cut.

How to take your measurements?

To measure your chest circumference:

  1. Take a flexible tape measure
  2. Wrap it around your torso at the widest part (under the armpits)
  3. The tape measure should be horizontal and not tight
  4. Note the measurement in centimeters
  5. Compare with the table above

Fan Version vs Player Version: Fit Difference

The fan version (replica) has a more relaxed, slightly looser fit. Ideal for comfortable everyday wear.

The player version (authentic) has a more fitted, close-to-body cut, designed for athletic performance. If you wear it casually, take one size up.

Practical Tips

  • ✅ When in doubt, always take the size up — a jersey that's too big can be worn, a jersey that's too small is unusable
  • ✅ For fast-growing children, take 1 size above their current size
  • ✅ If you wear the jersey over thick sportswear (thermal underwear), add one size
  • ✅ For a player-style fit, take your exact size
